Starting in 1940, the U.S Air Force used Hill Military Air Field as a maintenance and supply depot. The site, which is still an active facility, is located approximately 10 miles south of Ogden, Utah in Davis and Weber Counties and contains three individual properties that are peripheral to the main portion of the base.

Parcel one (771.49 acres) was used to provide water to the base, parcel two (1.65 acres) provided a gas beacon light for the runway, and parcel three (.46 acres) served as a buffer zone for buildings located on an adjacent property which contained ordnance. In the sixties and seventies, the three parcels were reported excess. Currently, parcel one is known as the Weber Basin Job Corps Center and is owned by the Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation and the Department of Labor; Parcel two is owned by the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation; Parcel three is owned by the City of Riverdale and is used as a reservoir.

In the summer of 1999, staff from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, its agents, and the State of Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) visited the site. Based on the site visits, records researched, and interviews conducted, it was determined that no adverse or potentially adverse environmental hazards exist related to Department of Defense (DoD) use. Currently, the No Further Department of Defense Actions Indicated (NDAI) recommendation is under review by the DEQ.
