![]() ![]() In 1955, the Hill Quarry Annex was used by the U.S. Air Force to extract gravel for routine maintenance and repair of Hill Air Force Base, as well as by installations and facilities under its command jurisdiction. The 5.5 acre site is located 6 miles southeast of the base at 650 North 1500 East in Davis County, Utah. In the early 1960's, the Air Force reshaped and reseeded the slopes, disposed of boulders and debris, and removed all machinery and improvements to the site before transferring the land to the U.S. Forest Service in 1965. It currently functions as an active gravel quarry serving both Davis County and the City of Kaysville. In March of 2004, staff from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, its agents, and the State of Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) visited the site for a second time. Based on the site visits, records researched, and interviews conducted, it was determined that no adverse or potentially adverse environmental hazards exist related to Department of Defense (DoD) use. Currently, the No Further Department of Defense Actions Indicated (NDAI) recommendation is under review by the DEQ.
