![]() ![]() Starting in the late 1950's, the United States Government used the Marquardt Air Force Jet Lab to conduct acceptance tests of ramjet engines and fuel packages, and simulated nuclear weapons effects testing on Minutemen system components. The 1853 acre site is located at the northeast fringe of the Great Salt Lake, about 15 miles west of Ogden in Weber County, Utah. In 1973, 1123 acres of the site were declared excess and conveyed to the Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation. That property was later conveyed to both Weber County and a private entity. There are no Department of Defense (DoD) remnants on the site, as it consists of mostly mud flats from the Great Salt Lake. The remaining 730 acres are still active and have been designated the Little Mountain Air Force Training Annex. In the summer of 2003, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its agents visited the site. Based on the site visits, records researched, and interviews conducted, it was determined that no adverse or potentially adverse environmental hazards exist related to DoD use. As a result, the site has been recommended for No Further Department of Defense Actions Indicated (NDAI) Status.
