The Project 5710 Rocktest and Simdep Programs site was used by the Air Force for geological and geophysical investigations. There is no indication that any improvements were made on the site during Department of Defense (DoD) control. The entire site was relinquished to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on October 23, 1969, and then re-transferred to BLM on November 30, 1969. Of note is that the southern boundary of this site includes about 1/4 of another former DOD site, known as Operation Mineshaft.
