![]() ![]() From 1940 through 1945, this 1.5 acre site was used by the U.S. Army Air Corps as a transmitter station for the Army Airways Communication System. The station, located at 470 North Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, Utah, was sold to the Salt Lake City Mosquito Abatement Project in 1947. The government improvements to the site included a four-room frame building (transferred from Fort Douglas in Utah), as well as a garage, a six foot chain link fence, and a 500-gallon underground storage tank used for heating oil. All of the improvements are or were being beneficially reused by the current owner. During the records research, interviews, and site inspections conducted related to this site, there were no hazards or potential environmental liabilities noted from the past use of the site by the Department of Defense; no evidence of hazards were found during the site visit; therefore, this site has been given the designation of No Department of Defense Actions Indicated (NDAI).
