![]() ![]() In the early 1940's, the United States Military used the site as a convalescent camp for wounded soldiers from Bushnell Hospital in Brigham City, Utah. The five-acre property, located approximately 19 miles northwest of Logan, Utah, near U.S. Highway 89, was declared excess in 1945. The land is currently a part of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and is now referred to as the Utah State University Forestry Field Station. The site contained a dormitory, administrative building, mess hall, two barracks, and a laundry building, all of which are being beneficially reused by the current tenants. There was no evidence of past or current underground storage tanks on the property. The only above ground storage tanks, used for propane, appear to have been installed and are in use by the current tenants. In the winter of 2003, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its agents visited the site. Based on the site visit, records researched, and interviews conducted, it was determined that no adverse or potentially adverse environmental hazards exist related to Department of Defense use. As a result, the site has been recommended for No Further Department of Defense Actions Indicated (NDAI) Status.
